At General Assembly, we believe in making education accessible to everyone, and we’re proud to offer GI Bill eligible courses* designed to help Veterans, service members, and their families launch fulfilling careers in tech. As the tech industry continues to grow and evolve, it’s more important than ever to have access to high-quality, career-focused education—and with the GI Bill, that opportunity is well within reach.

What is the GI Bill?

The GI Bill is a long-standing educational benefit provided to U.S. Veterans and their families. It’s designed to help those who have served their country pursue higher education, job training, and certification programs. We’re honored to be part of this initiative, providing cutting-edge tech education to Veterans looking to transition into thriving careers.

GI Bill eligible courses at General Assembly

For Veterans interested in taking advantage of their GI Bill benefits, our New York City campus currently offers in-person, full-time immersive tech bootcamps in the in-demand field of software engineering:

This software engineering bootcamp is perfect for anyone in New York City looking to move quickly into a new tech career, and thanks to the GI Bill, you may be able to do so without worrying about tuition costs.

After completing the GA full-stack cohort, this was a great opportunity getting into the tech realm. With the Navy and GA working together making sure I’m well prepared I must say this is the perfect path going into the tech industry. The instructors, curriculum, and the students were an impact on my new career path. This was absolutely worth it.

The GI Bill in action: Our NYC campus experience

In 2023, 44% of our 184 in-person learners at General Assembly’s New York City campus used the GI Bill to cover tuition. This highlights how pivotal this program has been for Veterans seeking a fast-tracked path to a new career. Many of these learners moved to New York City specifically for our immersive, 12-week bootcamps as an alternative to the traditional four-year degree path.

One of the most significant benefits of our GI Bill partnership is that it gives Veterans access to a tech-focused curriculum in a condensed time frame, with real-world skills and a portfolio to show for it—plus end-to-end career services support and so much more. General Assembly’s mission is to help our students succeed in and out of the classroom, and for Veterans, that success means securing a well-paying job in tech after service.

Now that I’ve completed the course, I can absolutely say GA was the right decision. I’m taking a second course right now elsewhere, and it can’t compare to the quality of the instructors, curriculum, or environment at GA.

Supporting our Veteran learners: More than just tuition

We understand that transitioning into a civilian career can come with unique challenges, which is why we’re committed to providing robust support for our GI Bill learners. Recently, General Assembly applied for additional grant funding to enhance on-campus resources and operations at our NYC campus. This funding will allow us to host community events, career coaching workshops, and offer additional support services designed specifically to tackle the common Veteran-specific barriers to employment.

By building these support systems, we’re striving to provide an environment that goes beyond just coursework. We’re hopeful the additional funding will be approved—and if it is, here’s how we’d put it to use:

A path to success for Veterans

At General Assembly, we’re not just focused on education—we’re committed to helping Veterans (and all our learners) build meaningful careers. Our programs are designed with career outcomes in mind, and through a combination of hands-on learning, portfolio development, and industry connections, we set our students up for success.

If you’re an NYC-based Veteran looking to start or redefine your tech career, the GI Bill can help you cover the cost of tuition while General Assembly helps you master the real skills needed to move forward and build the future you want. Our immersive tech bootcamps provide an accelerated path to your new career, with ample support along the way—before, during, and after your bootcamp.
